MACHE Homeschool Day at Mount Vernon

  November 5, 2010
9:00 AM - 4:00 PM

In partnership with the state home education associations of Maryland (MACHE) and Virginia (HEAV), Mount Vernon invites homeschoolers to experience 18th-century plantation life during this special one-day event!
At the George Washington: Pioneer Farmer site families can watch costumed interpreters produce 18th-century goods; learn about George Washington’s innovative farming practices; visit a reconstructed slave cabin; play colonial games; listen to musical demonstrations; and see animals (like horses, mules, sheep, and oxen).

Elsewhere on the estate, families can tour Washington’s Mansion; visit our state-of-the-art Donald W. Reynolds Museum and Education Center; meet people from Washington’s world; and participate in a special wreathlaying ceremony at Washington’s Tomb.

Special rates for homeschool families: $7 for homeschool students (age 6-18); $10 for adults; free for children 5 and under.

Tickets can be purchased starting in September. Watch the mail for fliers or this website for details.
