The Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) is performing a review of six chapters of Title 13A, including the chapters on Nonpublic Schools (13.A.09) and Home Instruction (13.A.10). This is part of a mandatory review that has been required for all of Maryland’s regulating agencies over an 8-year period. The evaluation will result in a report made by the MSDE to the Maryland General Assembly.
The MSDE will specifically be evaluating “the need to retain, amend, or repeal any provisions of these regulations based on whether they:Continue to be necessary for the public interest?
Continue to be supported by statutory authority or and judicial opinion?
Are obsolete or other appropriate for amendment or repeal?
Are effective in accomplishing their intended purpose?โ
